This Rattlesnake Hills Merlot from Seattle's Welcome Road Winery offers intense aromas of cedar, baking spices and bay leaf that are wrapped around notes of fig and jammy black fruit. On the palate, mouth-filling flavors of sugarplum are mixed with notes of chocolate and earthy hints of dried herbs, violet and a textured finish alluding to cocoa powder. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
