Recline Ridge Vineyards & Winery 2016 Marechal Foch
Published: September 23, 2020
Marechal Foch is an early-ripening, cold-hearty hybrid varietal that is found in just a few places in the Northwest including this one from British Columbia's Recline Ridge. On the nose, it gives the impression of a bold, fruit forward wine alluding to a dark berry sauce with aromatics of clove, cedar, lavender and sweet vanilla. On the palate, it surprises with balanced flavors starting with Boysenberry balanced by notes of tart plum skin, then finishing with earthy hints of violet, black tea and a stony minerality. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
