Perennial Vintners 2016 Melon de Bourgogne

Perennial Vintners 2016 Melon de Bourgogne

Melon de Bourgogne is a crisp and minerally white wine originating in the Muscadet region of France near the country's west coast and grapes for this Melon come from Washington's Puget Sound, located at nearly the exact same latitude as its French ancestors. On the nose, it's restrained, but you can get hints of the salty marine air of its origin. On the palate, it delivers balanced flavors of crisp Asian pear, green apple and lime that weave their way around an oyster shell minerality with a finish that shows nice length. It's pleasant on its own, but like its French cousin, would be a standout with delicate white seafoods. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
