Girardet Vineyards 2016 Bush Vine Teroldego

Girardet Vineyards 2016 Bush Vine Teroldego

This lesser-known Italian red wine varietal is known for offering bold, spicy wines and this one comes from Southern Oregon's Giradet Wine Cellars with grapes planted on its estate vineyard in 1971. Rather than vines pruned to grow on wire supports, this wine was produced from grapes grown in bush vines, pruned tree-like to provide a shaded canopy over the grapes. The wine offers deep aromas of fig, dark berry jam, smoky sweet tobacco, leather and Allspice. On the palate, Boysenberry, blueberry and plum skin flavors offer a nice balance of fruit and acidity mixed with notes of chocolate and a long spicy finish, again alluding to Allspice. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
