Elevation Cellars 2012 Merlot

This Horse Heaven Hills Merlot is blended with 7% Malbec and 7% Cabernet Franc. On the nose are aromas of berry jam, fig, cedar, baking spice, dark chocolate and a hint of bay leaf. On the palate, black cherry is deftly balanced by earthy notes of violet, cocoa and a minerality reminiscent of clay pot that lingers through a peppery spice finish. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
