Chaberton Estate Winery 2016 Reserve Bacchus

Chaberton Estate Winery 2016 Reserve Bacchus

Bacchus is modern grape varietal created by crossing Müller Thurgau with a Silvaner-Riesling cross. The grape is particularly suited to cooler climates where it can ripen early and fully for best results. This one offers a nose of crisp green apple, pear, citrus zest and tropical fruits with lovely aromatics that allude to orange blossom and fresh chopped ginger. On the palate, it hits bright notes of sour watermelon hard candies and grapefruit with additional notes hinting at tart pineapple and lemon-honey before a nice finish showing tangerine. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
