Seven Hills Winery 2014 Merlot

Dark fruit shines in this Walla Walla Merlot, but it's elegantly balanced by earthy elements and refined tannins that add structure without being overpowering. On the nose are aromas of dark berry jam mingling with cigar box, cedar and black licorice. Flavors of blueberry are upfront, then slightly tart black cherries on the mid-palate with vanilla and baking spices that fade into a lingering finish hinting at dried herbs. This wine is drinking beautifully, but could continue to develop from a few years in the cellar.
