Pudding River Wine Cellars 2014 Syrah

This is a big and bold, yet balanced Syrah begging for grilled meats. On the nose are enticing aromas of blackberry pie, smoke, sweet tobacco, fresh ground espresso, black licorice and Allspice. On the palate, it's nicely structured showing ripe dark fruit, but it's balanced deftly with earthy and spicy notes. You'll find flavors of blueberry and brambles upfront, then cocoa and clove notes are revealed before a lengthy finish showing a graphite minerality and some peppery spice. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
