Naches Heights Vineyard & Winery 2013 Syrah

From the original vineyard in what is now the Naches Heights AVA in Yakima, Washington comes this Syrah that beautifully balances dark fruit with earthy terroir for an elegantly structured wine. On the nose, dark berry jam, sweet tobacco and spice cake are all prominent with notes of black pepper, anise and just a hint of lavender. Flavors of black cherry and blueberry are balanced with notes of brambles, green peppercorn, graphite and clay dust that linger through a nicely structured dry finish. - Reviewed by Gary Hayes
