Northwest Pinot Noirs That Crossed the Bar in 2020

Northwest Pinot Noirs That Crossed the Bar in 2020

It's not always easy to get consensus on Pinot Noirs, but more than 20 crossed the 90-point bar for us in 2020. There were some surprises and some expected names that found themselves on top of our blind review. Our top ten included some expected names like Archery Summit and Panther Creek, but smaller operations also tasted their way to the top. South Willamette Valley's Bluebird Hill Cellars placed two wines in our top ten and two more that crossed the 90-point bar.

While a majority of our top Pinots came from Willamette Valley, wines from Southern Oregon, the Columbia River Gorge, Idaho and Western Washington also made our list of favorites. Our top pick, tasted side-by-side blind with all the Gold Medal wines was one of those surprises, coming from Trella Vineyards in Southern Oregon's Umpqua Valley.
